PEA checks the readiness of underground electricity distribution systems in Koh Samui

Mr. Anuwat Thongchit, Manager of the Provincial Electricity Authority of Koh Samui, welcomed Mr. Nukul Tupanich, Assistant Governor of the Provincial Electricity Authority, and Mr. Ramnet Jaikwang, Mayor of Koh Samui, while visiting Koh Samui, Surat Thani, to inspect the readiness of the underground electricity distribution systems which help promote electricity stability and beautiful landscaping in the area.

The PEA has enhanced the stability of underwater cables that supply electricity from Khanom high voltage station to Koh Samui power station 1 (Baan Phang Ka) to support electricity consumption in Koh Samui.

Furthermore, PEA is now adjusting the landscape in Baan Chaweng area by moving the electricity system underground, covering 3.5 km. The work, which will be completed in August 2020, will make the area more tidy and beautiful, without visual pollution and encourage safety among people and tourists.

PEA also plans to construct 115 kV power distribution lines, totalling 40 km, to connect Koh Samui Power Station 1 (Baan Phang Ka) with Koh Samui Power Station 2 (Baan Mae Nam). This will increase capacity and stability of electricity distribution and meet the increasing need for electricity in Koh Samui going forward.
